The Criminal Indictment of George W. Bush

Gitmo torture graphicIt should go without saying that the President of the United States of America cannot lawfully authorize the torture of anybody. Given George W. Bush's statements in his recently published memoir that he had, indeed, authorized waterboarding, I turned to Manfred Nowak for an explanation of what this confession may mean. From 2004 until October 2010 Professor Nowak was the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture. It's his third interview with Electric Politics, this time speaking to me from Phnom Penh. Total runtime twenty nine minutes. Fiat justitia, ruat caelum.

An appropriately pointed and succinct conversation to end the year! I wonder if George W will bother renewing his passport, he might not be traveling again for a while...

Thanks for all the great interviews this year George, and enjoy your break. You deserve it.
