The Horrors of Apartheid

One Country coverOne way — only one way — exists for Israel to become a normal state at peace with its neighbors: it must abandon its delusional world of 19th century nationalism for modern principles of equal justice and equal rights for all its people. Otherwise, Israel's future will remain tormented. Implicating the U.S., as it does, this question surely cannot belong to Israel alone, nor can outsiders ignore it without peril. Jewish supremacists, unless brought to their senses, have the power and will to wreck havoc in the middle east (and beyond) for generations. To help me understand things I turned to the internet activist Ali Abunimah, author of One Country: A Bold Proposal To End the Israeli-Palestinian Impasse. The son of displaced Palestinians, Ali has the kind of balanced soul necessary to sort things out and lead the way forward. In hope, in peace, and with more than a little prophetic insight. It was a privilege and a pleasure to talk with Ali, and I do believe his message will ultimately prevail. Total runtime here of an hour and eight minutes.

Among many fine programs — this one ranks among the very best: simply, this honest, unhurried and informed discussion of a single-state solution is a refreshing departure from the unproductive dogmas dished out by most of the establishment and alternative media elsewhere.

I hope all who care about helping build a healthy future for Israelis and Palestinians alike will seriously listen to what Ali Abunimah has to say.

George — thank you for your expert questions and comments during the program, and the coverage of Norman Finkelstein and Mehrene Larudee.
