Exploit, Impoverish, Abandon
"A job should keep you out of poverty, not keep you in it." It's not easy to know where to start in trying to alleviate poverty but one good place would be by raising the minimum wage. Not only do hundreds of prominent economists agree that that would be a very good thing, so does a large majority of the public. The Reverend Dr. Paul Sherry, former head of the United Church of Christ, is coordinating a campaign to make it happen, called Let Justice Roll. Dr. Sherry was very kind to talk with me—right during the middle of one of his major drives—and I appreciate his candor and wisdom. Please consider volunteering in some way for this deserving and pragmatic cause. Runtime of about fifty eight minutes.

Comments
As always: a thoughtful and excellent program.
As much as I enjoyed listening to it, I enjoyed Mr. Kenney's comments, questions and analysis, at the conclusion most.
I would like to point out that Peter Miguel Camejo is running ("again"-- irritated political insiders of the status quo here grumble) to be governor in California. He says this is his last run for the seat.
Camejo ran with Nader in 2004 and placed (I think) fourth or fifth in the wierd CA 2003 recall election (in which Arianna Huffington skipped out on her agreement to support him near the end.)
He is now running against Arnold Schwarzenegger (who lost millions of the taxpayers' money last year trying to pass initiatives to cement his "mandate" last year-- which were rejected-- and is posing as a moderate by running from George Bush and paying Democratic Party advisors to frame his policies) and against Phil Angelides (who has spent -- surprise-- millions running to get name recognition and hold onto union automatic endorsements, but who gets only enough media play just to get his millions-- and nothing more).
Peter Camejo gets resistance from some in his own Green Party for siding with Nader in '04, and not with David Cobb (who I believe was ultimately a sell-out to the antiwar movement (worse than Dennis Kucinich by not consequentially opposing the Kerry Campaign).
Why do I mention Camejo here?
Camejo stands for the fairer society people who both think and feel want.
He, with other California Green Party luminaries, wrote an excellent book describing his economic and political plan-- describing wage and tax reform etc.
The book is called "California Under Corporate Rule." Which sits on the Amazon bestseller list in a range of 800,000 to 1,000,000.
Schocking. But it is understandable to me.
Camejo has been systematically trifled with and ignored by the mainstream media, as has been his excellent and enlightening book.
I wish I could write more, but I am always a paycheck away from ecomomic catastrophe myself-- and must go to work.
