Dangerous Delusions
He's got top-notch judgment, he's scrupulous about facts, he's well spoken, a powerful writer, and he's one of the top five or so western journalists in the middle east, even if he is an independent and less well known. I'm quite proud, actually, to bring you this fascinating conversation with Jonathan Cook, from Nazareth. If you're interested in getting beneath the surface of what Israel is all about, seriously, do yourself a favor and buy his recent book, Blood and Religion: The Unmasking of the Jewish and Democratic State. Jonathan's insights are indispensable for understanding the dynamic that ensnares the US in middle eastern wars. Total runtime, an hour and fifteen minutes. Listen twice, distribute liberally.

One of the best interviews I have ever heard about the Palestinian conflict. Mr. Cook really broadened my horizon. Thank you for your superb journalism.

I think Jon Cook's depiction is good enough but sterile and mild-sounding. Like a mild flu as opposed to a terminal illness.
It should be made clear: Palestinian leaders have TRIED peaceful negotiations, Ghandian attempts, civil intifada (uprising, marches, stone-throwing), and outright (though limited) violence, and a whole variety of attempts to resolve the fact of the brutal military occupation, varying between "extremely brutal" and "somewhat less brutal".
Shootings and Killings by Israel on a daily basis are routine, and therefore not reported, or reported lightly, as is the ongoing starvation and servere humanitarian crisis, while attacks on Israelis is typically hightened and overblown.
Anything on Palestine by Ralph Schoenman, who is Jewish, who was living in the region during past massacres, is filled with far more excruciating detail and in HISTORICAL detail.
