The Mildest Rebuke

Wind TurbineWhen I saw a BBC report that as part of his Cabinet reshuffle Tony Blair had sacked his Minister for the Environment, Elliot Morley, and that Mr. Morley was taking a more skeptical position on civilian nuclear power, I thought it would be wonderful to get that view. To my surprise and delight Mr. Morley agreed to this interview, about which I'll note two things here. First, and I think it's a matter of style (style is policy I like to say), Mr. Morley's critique is so gentle one wonders, indeed, what happened to the alleged disagreement. Second, this guy is really, really smart. I wish we had more politicians like him in America—how many Senators or Representatives, I wonder, could carry on a conversation this way? Not many. This is a shorter podcast than normal, at about 26 minutes, and doesn't alter our regular Friday schedule. Enjoy!
