The Last Round-up

Edward Curtis PhotoGlobalization tells you, "don't worry, the market will set the right price for everything and you'll be better off." Well, that's mostly not true but sometimes people need to see a specific example to realize exactly how untrue. So here's one: The last wild horses in America are about to be packed up in a plant in Texas and sent off to France to be eaten for dinner. Fake cowboy W is proving what he's really made out of...

As far as I know no prominent national politician has adopted the wild horse cause, but if I may make a suggestion: the wild horse is the perfect symbol for fusion politics, for people sick and tired of money running both parties, for people who want government to be a partner, not a predator. Deanne Stillman is an amazingly powerful writer who's currently working on a book about wild horses. She is the author of an acclaimed (and edgy) book in the true crime, literary non-fiction genre, and also writes frequently for the Huffington Post and other venues. Links to wild horse organizations can be found on her site. This podcast runs about forty-five minutes.
