Some Good News For A Change

SealifePodcast listeners may remember the sad story of the Menhaden, a keystone fish species on the verge of being wiped out. Yesterday, the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission voted to reduce the harvest by a lot, maybe up to 37%. That's not as good as stopping the harvest altogether but it's a step in the right direction. Kudos to all those keeping the Menhaden issue alive!

Time and again, fisheries scientists recommend a cut and the politicians "split the difference". Imagine the two mothers accepting Solomons' decision, and you can predict the results. Pray that this is not the case here.
