DSL Woes
A near miss this morning for the podcast: my Verizon DSL connection is sputtering. On/off, on/off, every couple minutes. Which made it difficult both to upload the .mp3 file and to operate the blog interface. The trouble started yesterday afternoon — I've made two calls to Verizon's technical support — but I doubt that (due to snow) I'll see a service truck anytime before the middle of next week. Hopefully by next Friday everything will be fixed!
[Update: First call yesterday evening after noticing a few dropped connections. Second call this morning after connection started regularly dropping. Third call this morning when connection was off more than it was on. Fourth call this morning when connection was almost entirely off. With my fourth call Verizon bumped up the service complaint and tracked the problem to their side, to one of their local switches. Evidently it affected not just me but some number of others. From the looks of things, with everything fine now for a couple hours, Verizon managed to fix whatever was busted — no truck roll required. If I hadn't been busy complaining I wonder how long the fix might have taken??]
