Got CIA?

shadows over the CIA seal in LangleyLast July, speaking to the Socialism 2009 convention in San Francisco, John Pilger credited Mr. Obama with being a proponent of "American exceptionalism" — "a myth the late Harold Pinter described as 'a brilliant, witty, highly successful act of hypnosis.'" Pilger is curious, in particular, about what Mr. Obama was doing in his first job out of Columbia, at Business International Corporation, "which has a long history of providing cover for the CIA with covert action, and infiltrating unions and the left." Pilger knows about BIC because it was especially active in his own country, Australia.

In telling the story of his work at BIC Mr. Obama claims merely to have been a research associate involved in preparing international financial reports. That may well be the truth, but it remains undocumented. We should not be surprised, however, if we were to learn that Mr. Obama had been recruited by the CIA for the purpose of penetrating leftist groups. Either way, it's a great big red flag that hasn't yet received the attention it deserves from serious investigative journalists.

At a minimum we can fairly speculate that Mr. Obama must have been aware of BIC's clandestine purposes and methods, and that even if he were not an actual participant he imbibed of BIC's culture of deception. Indeed, taking that perspective into account, it makes all the more sense that Mr. Obama's entire subsequent career, up to and including being President, could be interpreted as an exercise in deceiving the left for his own ulterior motives. Ambition, perhaps, or simply power, or even, as Pilger suggests, an ideology of "American exceptionalism."

Being lied to on such a breathtaking scale is something of a shock. Clearly, most people on the left are still struggling to wrap their minds around the huge disconnect between what Mr. Obama says and what he does. But having more context from his personal background, which anchors the deception, could make it a little easier to accept and to deal with.

I love the way you write about this stuff George. I hope a serious investigative journalist takes this on. Maybe Russ Baker? Keep us posted!

George,

BIC followed Harvard Law Review and a lot of training for a clever mind. One has to assume that the man has had some amazing and effective coaching to go along with his towering ambitions. The "deception" is eased by our desire to believe and our unwillingness to face the simpler truths.

The CIA is always up to something. That new book just out is about the CIA helping a small town mayor that ends up starting the 2nd American Revolution.

This well informed article fits the bill of the novel. It's a must read on the CIA & the 2nd American Revolution. Just read it, it's powerful.

Keep digging. There's so much we don't know about Obama's past, despite his writing TWO autobiographies already!

I'd like to hear more about his 3 week "vacation" in Pakistan during martial law and lockdown at the time and Americans were not permitted in unless they were officials from State or press.... And his staying at the home of one of the top officials and Banksters of Pakistan at the time. His sudden transformation upon his return to the states (stopped doing drugs, became Barack Hussein Obama, somehow got into Columbia with poor grades and no money, moved to NY during the time of heaviest CIA infiltration at the Al Farouk mosque there, went into full disappearance ("monk") mode, and all records vanished.....) and so on. No mention of any of this in either of his autobiographies. Curious.

Wow. What an explosive Christmas Week post. :-)

Your theme certainly would explain everything. Yet the remaining Hope-a-Dopes tell themselves Obama was always this foul, reactionary creature, so stop yer whining! And they like the unveiling fine anyway. (See Walsh, Joan for a particularly car-alarm type example.)

It would be wonderful if you could speak with Sheldon Wolin. I just finished "Democracy Inc." and it really does live up to its great reputation. Published before ObamaLand, it is amazingly prescient about how what Wolin calls "inverted totalitarianism" would inevitably snuff out all hopes for progressive change under the current system, even if the Dems swept in as a result of Bush revulsion.

Merry Christmas to all! (Except Barack Obama.)
