The 2009 Podcast Awards Competition
In each of the past two years the EP podcast has been one of ten finalists in the political category at the Annual Podcast Awards Competition. Winning the category outright would be better, but being recognized is just great in itself. Other shows in the top ten have included the Rachel Maddow Show podcast, the Democracy Now podcast, and the Slate podcast — and none of them have won the category either. To be honest, I'm not sure being recognized has helped at all in terms of building EP's audience, but I do know it's helped a lot in terms of booking high quality guests. So now it's that time of year again for the competition and I'd very much like for the EP podcast to again make it into the finals.
That will happen (I hope) if you, the EP audience, stand up for the show. Nominations are now open. It'll just take a moment of your time. Please, please, please participate!! ✘
The competition involves a long, complicated process. It takes place in two stages where the first stage is a mix of anonymous jury rankings and public nominations, and the second stage is based entirely on public voting. In the first stage, as a member of the public you can nominate your favorite podcasts only once. In the second stage you can vote once a day for several weeks. Each category winner, then, is determined mostly by the size and enthusiasm of its audience. But let's not worry about stage two for the moment. Fortunately, for our purposes the first stage is quite straightforward: just go to the Podcast Awards website and nominate the Electric Politics podcast in the political category. (Don't worry about the two overall best in show categories.) For a more detailed explanation see the competition's rules, here.
I'm guessing that a hundred or so nominations probably will be enough, together with the quality of the podcast, to make it into the finals. If you listen regularly — and I know there are a lot of you who do — this is your chance to help keep EP competitive. Let's work together for progressive standards.
Thanks very much for your support!

Did it.
I can't imagine that people do so much of this that anyone would have nom's for all the categories.
Flashpoints.net radio from KPFA/Pacifica is put up as a podcast but I consider that to be net radio. Highly recommended for this listener base as well.
