NooseIn principle I'm opposed to capital punishment but I'm willing to make an exception for Wall Street swindlers. Instead of throwing a constant stream of billions of dollars at them and hoping that their worshipfulnesses will start the economy up again it would be better to mete out some extremely harsh punishments, to better concentrate their minds. Long sentences — life sentences — at supermax prisons would be a start. My personal preference would be to string several dozen of them up along the National Mall. Or at the very least I'd like to hear more from the Obama finance geniuses than "we're unable to legally prevent hundreds of millions in bonuses from being paid to AIG managers."

Indeed, where is the outrage? Many people have been asking that for a long time.

This afternoon, my Senator had one of his local listening sessions. This topic came up. Senator Feingold said in response he is looking at legal measures which may apply to this bonuses mess.

The natives are restless out here in Northeast Wisconsin too.

Ben Bernanke's interview on the CBS 60 minutes show yesterday was an attempt to promote the Fed Reserve Chairman rather than provide any insight into the economic catastrophe which is being facilitated by the bankster/'masters of the universe' myth makers. As has been pointed out in a series of articles at http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=listByAuthor&authorFirst=Michael&authorName=Hudson,
Michael Hudson (a very good economics iconoclast who could use a grammar-checker for his articles) has described the mistaken analyses provided by close advisers to Barack Obama (Tim Geithner and Larry Summers who appear to be virtual clones of Henry Paulson). The basic problem appears to be that B Obama is either blithely ignorant regarding either Washington-insider strategies and matters of economic and strategic military importance, or he is a willing co- conspirator with the 'new world order' bunch who wished to change their front man from the boob (GWB) to someone who would have better public relations value. Surely, B Obama is a smooth politician, however, when you examine his choices for critical support he has made choices which make it appear that he is simply a more polished 'front man' for the 'new world order' crowd. While it is sort of disappointing to someone who voted for him, let's face it — we had little choice.

[And don't miss today's blast from Robert Kuttner at the Huffington Post. g.]

The Green Party is on the masthead here at Electric Politics.

I admit to not voting for B. Obama or for McCain either. I voted for Cynthia McKinney as a strategic vote for policy change in a safe state for a Democratic victory.

This Democratic victory can hardly be considered a victory for the rank and file Democrats who voted for Obama.

However it is, to use a phrase from Hillary Clinton, "not helpful" to equate this with new world order Jeremiahs.

There are alternatives. Voters have to start to use them. If they don't they fall into the trap first enunciated by Margaret Thatcher: "there is no alternative." TINA thinking has gotten us to where we are today.

My position since the Keating Five and the S&L defrauding has been to put them in stocks. The other kind. On a flatbed. Then take them on tour. I will happily ignore the carbon footprint and even pay for some fuel.

Death is too good for them, George. Make them live out their days in our service and mockery.

[Excellent suggestion. g.]

To William: But you had a choice, there was one honest politician in the race. Ron Paul.

You Americans have to begin to realize that you have what the Soviets had, a One party system, but your propaganda apparatus seems to be light years ahead of Soviet model, where the population in America actually believe what they are being fed.

[It's the modern, corporate subcontracted style of propaganda. g.]
