Save the Menhaden
This is not a book review. My guest on March 7th will be Dr. H. Bruce Franklin, author most recently of The Most Important Fish in the Sea. This is one of the most amazing, mind-boggling, and generally unknown stories I've ever come across. One fish, a unique fish, the Menhaden, is the keystone of our Atlantic and Gulf fisheries, yet it is about to be fished into extinction, just as we're beginning to recognize how critically important it is. To be clinical about it, it's the most perfect case study of rampant capitalism that I've ever seen. Please read this book.

Cat owners, beware. Menhaden can be labeled 'trash fish' or used under its own name — most of it goes into popular cat food brands labeled "Ocean Fish".
Fish is bad for your cat, and cats eating menhaden are bad for the planet. Feed the cat a brand that has no 'ocean fish' ingredients and help save this important fish.
