Presumptive Politics
Whenever it was the NYT decided to abandon their foolish firewall strategy, it's taken me some time to begin to get used to reading their columnists again. I like Maureen Dowd. She's often way off base, but she's a good writer with an acid tongue — when applied to appropriate targets a joy to read. Such is her column today, "Deign or Reign?", which captures perfectly the choice of Obama or Hillary. Worth a gander.

I have a big problem with MoDo's latest effort: She poses the question of Queen Hillary vs. Prince Barack, but what happened to Archduke Edwards? While she mentions Edwards and one voter's response to his appeal, she winds up as do most of the punditocracy with a 2-person race.
It is clear that the Beltway in-crowd would love to see Edwards fall and put an end to all the anti-corporate rhetoric that threatens their way of life -- All the more reason to support him.

This column misses the main point: Hillary is a hawk. I'm hoping Obama's win helps to knock off Hillary, so Edwards can come from behind. Obama's lack of substance annoys me, but he's a lot better than Hillary.
